A scholarship in remembrance of Vince Wojnar was established to honor a male and female college-bound student-athlete who is graduating from a high school encompassing PIAA District 2. Vince was the co-founder of the Wyoming Valley Striders in 1975 and passed away on January 18, 2018. He was a staple in the running community. Vince volunteered half of his life to the WVS serving in various positions on the board from 1975-2018 and was race director for Strider races up until his retirement in 2015.

To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must have competed in and finished at the varsity level in cross country or in an individual event in track and field at the PIAA District 2 meet during their senior year.

2023 Winners

Drew Mruk, Wyoming Area

Mruk was a 2023 District 2 Class 3A track and field champion in the javelin. He placed second at the 2023 PIAA Track and Field Championships. Drew plans to attend Princeton University where he will major in engineering or economics.ew text field ready for your content.

Tatum Norris, Susquehanna Community

Norris was a 2023 four-time District 2 Class 2A track and field champion in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, long jump, and pole vault. At the 2023 PIAA Track and Field Championships, she placed first, second, fourth, and sixth respectively. Tatum plans to attend Binghamton University, majoring in nursing.
